Why Apple’s iPhone / iPod / iPad Doesn’t Have Adobe Flash

facebook.com & twitter.com – Apple doesn’t want Adobe Flash on their mobile OS because it’s unstable. You can disagree with that all you want – I’ll punch holes in every flawed argument you present. It has nothing to do with Apple wanting to make more money – it has to do with controlling the consumer experience, much like other CE manufacturers do. Flash would ruin the iphone OS experience, not enhance it.

this is all marketing by apple… without flash in their devices they can shell more APPs instead of people using flash apps/games.

  2. Firestarthe says:

you should not release a worthless product, work with adobe, don’t release a piece of shit, that is overpriced

  3. Firestarthe says:

    crashing is better than nothing…

  4. FearedBliss says:

If you listened correctly with both ears not just one or maybe not even one, you would have noticed he said something along the lines of “It’s not because we don’t enjoy what flash provides us, but it’s because it’s unstable and it crashes all the time”.

  5. CrHickey25 says:

@applefreak66 How? people have said that flash works great for them with windows and linux, why is that only mac users seem to be having most of the problems?

but with a name like applefreak66 I would not be expecting a fair and balanced point of view.

  6. TrustAvidity says:

I thought about saving for an iPad but then thought why?…. Why should I pay $500 for a device that doesn’t have flash (regardless of fault), only runs one app at a time, and costs more? Instead I got a netbook for half the cost… it’s a PC so it can run flash!!! It supports music, has video output… has usb ports… supports a ton of web based games… and I can keep the extra $250 in my pocket… thanks Apple for making the decision so easy.

  7. panicspreadwide says:

    you are a moron….

  8. CheChomsky2000 says:

    What’s flash?

  9. applefreak66 says:

It is Adobe’s problem!!! they need to learn to make it for apple not just for windows they are lazy and do not try hard enough on flash for Apple!!!!

  10. kisucat says:

If iPad can be on over 10hours it can definetely play flash good enough time to satisfy people.

Freaking Apple just put that damn flash on our products.
You know stocks would go up with it!

  11. oudomkeo says:

Dude, it never crashed on my laptop pc! Why you keep saying it is Flash problem for I can view the same video on Mozilla Firefox on pc.

  12. TradieTrev says:

you obviously wrote that on a computer. The laptop won’t help you.

Compatible must mean it works on windows! It also is unstable on linux. Just the same when car manufactures blame problems on the companies that make the parts for them.

I’m leaving my computer now to have a life and expect a response when I come back :P

  13. TradieTrev says:

It’s the same for linux as well :( You and I windows user are on the same platform. PC.

  14. FearedBliss says:

Nope. This flash problem happens as well with Linux. Flash uses too much cpu on other operating systems while it’s good on Windows. Which means that Adobe develops more for Windows then any other OS out there. Also Chris has a Mac Pro with like 8 processors and 16 gb of ram. I don’t think that’s a crappy computer. I use every OS out there and I don’t think I remember flash crashing. Oh well, it still sucks and HTML5 FTW !

  15. luther349 says:

i never had a issue with flash on linux or windows or even osx. but as the video shows sometimes other people do. does the iphone need flash i say no not for video anyways. html5 and mp4 video are better and smaller then flash videos.

  16. luther349 says:

and for those crying abought not putting there own media oh there iphone you simply don’t know how to use itunes. add the video you like to i-tunes even if its not in native iphone format you can tell itunes to convert it into mp4. or use one of the tons and tons of video converters out there.

  17. ameerameer1998 says:

but it makes me so angre i hate flash its so fuckesh i mean come on most of the web site s have flash

  18. BCCouches says:

Thanks you! I finally found someone who agrees with me! This video ROCKS!

I mean it is not like the iPad is going to replace your computer so you don’t even need Flash on it anyway. You want to watch Hulu? Go on your computer! Or just watch YouTube on the iPad.

If people don’t like the iPad, instead of arguing over it so much, SHUT UP! WE DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR HATE FOR THE iPAD! I LIKE THE IPAD AND I CAN’T WAIT TO GET IT :)

  19. DanielM8214 says:

me too i totally aggree apple hatters stay to yourself

  20. drago433 says:

    YEA MACS SUCK

  21. olimpicsa says:

    Chris, you are useless.
    Get a life.

  22. JustPlaneRC says:

I’ve never had flash crash on my in years of computer gaming, or normal usage. I think this dude just has shitty macs that don’t support flash as well as PC’s.

  23. Schwerter08 says:

why hypocrite and i don´t even own a macbook.
i use pc´s and flash is very unstable and how do you mean flash “in” my macbook (sry, english is not my native tongue)

  24. stupidjunk978 says:

Yep. Flash has never crashed for me on Windows or Linux.

It’s only craptastic macs that don’t seem to be able to handle it – surely that’s Apple’s problem

  25. egg357 says:

are you guys blind? most online advertising banners are designed in flash, by blocking flash ads you block ad delivery by Doubleclick Servers, Doubleclick which is owned by Google, clear attempt to make Google’s life difficult, but there is no way flash is going away anytime soon even if Jobs tries to block it, why not put flash in and let the user enable or disable it? obviously consumers have no choice in the matter

  26. drago433 says:

unstable is only your ass chris xD
i mean what is the internet without flash games!
and by the way flash never crashed on me once (windows)
its becouse macs can handle flash……and thats the dumbest thing mister Jobs has done yet! exept the ipad that was realy dumb too.

The iPhone is – if I may say so – one of the greatest mobile revolutions of the past decade. More and more, mobile phones seem to materialize out of our wildest dreams. Because of the tight integration of third-party applications, you can do nearly everything with your device — be it gaming, working, fooling around, and of course phoning. However, because of the sheer vastness of possibilities, not a lot of people are using their iPhone to the full extent of its capabilities. As of such, a lot of great features are missed on the users.

  • New app promises wireless sync for iPhone — if Apple approves it (Ben Patterson)
Ben Patterson - Zune users have been able to sync their music and videos over Wi-Fi for years now — not so for patrons of the iPhone or iPod Touch, which can only sync up files via USB tethering. That said, an enterprising developer is looking to change the game when it comes to wireless iPhone and/or iPod Touch syncing ... if Apple will let him, that is. […]
  • BlackBerry's new Pearl 3G goes old-school with 14-button keypad (Ben Patterson)
Ben Patterson - What's the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to a BlackBerry? For me, it's Research In Motion's iconic QWERTY keypad, or at the very least the modified "SureType" keyboard, which crams a couple of letter keys on each number key. So it's a little jarring to get a load of RIM's new, pumped-up Pearl […]
