How to transfer iPod music video back to new iTunes computer on Mac and Windows
How to transfer iPod music video back to new iTunes computer on Mac and Windows
Why staying silent with Apple’s silly DRM license protection when got computer crash or wanted to transfer iTunes library to news computer? Copy music & video back from any iPod to new iTunes or computer easily now!
NOTE: This step-by-step tutorial is taking Windows-based computer for example, but the method works the same for Mac users. Do it at your own risk, never disconnect your iPod when transferring or synchronizing!
Step 1. Plug your iPod into computer
Connect the USB cord from your iPod to your computer. Minimize iTunes if it starts.

Step 2. Get your iPod music to computer.
Click Start > My Computer > Your iPod, then in the explorer menu click Tools > Folder Options then click the “View” tab. Make sure ‘Show hidden files and folders’ is selected. Click OK.
Find the iPod Music folder, it’s in iPod_Control. Drag and drop the Music folder to your desktop. Wait for it to transfer. One thing forgot to mention — if you’re backing DRM-protected AAC(.m4p) music with license you’re not authorized, you can use this Protected Music Converter to strip the DRM first.
Once copying done, right click the folder and make sure ‘Hidden’ is unchecked. The music is now on your PC!
Step 3. Transfer iPod music into iTunes.
Now, there are two paths. Make sure iTunes is started.
If your iTunes is set to automatically copy and sort music (recommended):
1. Drop and drag the Music folder from your desktop into iTunes and wait for it to copy.
2. Delete the Music folder off the desktop. It’s no longer needed.
If your iTunes is set so that the user copies and sorts music:
1. Move the Music folder into your preferred directory.
2. Drag and drop the new music into your iTunes.
Step 4. Back iPod music into iTunes with ID3 Tags.
Need to know what song is what? You can setup Windows Explorer to display the mp3’s tags. Here’s how:
1. In the explorer window go to View > Details
2. Then go to View > Display Details
3. Choose what you want to be displayed (Like Title or Artist)
4. Click Ok
If you click on any of the columns at the top it will organize your music by the detail you clicked alphabetically.

- It will not work for DRM-protected music videos unless you have the authorized account. (There is enhanced DRM Removal Software that can remove DRM protection and convert them back into MP3 or MP4 I believe you still need the log-in account though.)

- By using this method you can copy the music video movie from any iPods that are from any iTunes, they don’t have to be yours. Grab a copy of your friends music!
- This should work on all iPod models (iPod touch, iPod Classics, iPod Nano or Shuffle), whatever iPod you have.
